The only thing scarier than children hopped up on candy this Halloween is the amount of calories you’re likely to consume if you raid their trick or treat stash. Unfortunately, fun-sized candy bars don’t equate with fun-sized waistbands.
Like with all things, I certainly don’t recommend you avoid the sweets altogether, but keep in mind that each little foil package you unwrap is around 75 calories. For a 150 pound person, it takes about 8 minutes running on the treadmill to burn that off. Not so “fun” – huh?
Here’s my challenge to you – save all the wrappers from any Halloween candy you eat and create a workout to correspond to your indulgences. So you had two snickers and a package of M&Ms? Spend 18 minutes of that extra hour you’re getting this weekend on the elliptical and 7 1/2 on the treadmill.
Ate too many to burn it off in one gym session? Are they still in your house a week after the holiday and you can’t resist? Simply keep your stack of wrappers and toss them as you get the workouts in. You don’t have to be afraid of candy, you just need to have a few tricks up your sleeve!
Happy Healthy Halloween!
