Sometimes you’re tired, you’re overwhelmed, and most of all you’re hungry, but you just don’t know what to eat!
I tend to like really simple meals and some of the same things over and over…. and over. But even I get stuck in a rut and just need a change of taste. Unfortunately, thanks to my often demanding schedule I don’t frequently have the brainpower to even begin to think up something new.
That’s when the plethora of healthy recipe sites out on the interwebz come in handy. Whether you use them for the actual recipes, or just to get some freaking inspiration when you need it most– they can save you from the dullness of a deep food rut (and help you keep your healthy eating goals…because boredom can often mean disaster!)
The Skinny and The Think of it team pulled together some of our favorite recipe sites to give you a starter kit of where we go for inspiration. Hope these help you keep things fresh and delicious!
Skinnytaste is one of Jaime’s favorite sites. It’s her goto many nights and she loves the easy and delicious recipes. One of her favorites are the Meatloaf Cupcakes with Mashed Potato Frosting (which I now have on my must make list.)
Running with Spoons has a bunch of baked goods (if that’s your thing,) along with a large gluten-free section.
Carrots n’ Cake has a fantastic selection of quick and easy recipes for an on the go healthy lifestyle (can you say Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie!!!!)
I personally am a huge fan of a few Paleo sites. While not strict paleo (I eat jasmine rice,) my diet tends toward that way. Plus I have celiac sprue, so paleo recipes work better for me overall.
PaleOMG has a huge variety, plus Juli posts some fantastic fashion and workout tips as well (to get you out of your workout and fashion slump…a slump breaking trifecta in one blog.)
Stupid Easy Paleo is really focused on the athlete. One of my favorite pages is this great list of recipes perfect for post workout.
